It just perpetuates the problem.
Why should I have to save an extra 10K a year to afford me the “right” to feeling safe and appreciated at work as a woman?
What about the women who can’t afford a fuck off fund? Bills are real, life is real, and many of us can’t afford this luxury. Ugh.
Also — everyone– men and women alike, should try to save some amount of of financial padding in general, whether it’s to quit a job because of a bad environment or to safeguard them to an unexpected layoff because on average it takes people at least ~3 months to find a new job.
This isn’t a new idea. It’s taking a very general norm and positioning it in a way that’s relevant but not well thought out.
